"New feature I’m calling “BLUES SPOTLIGHT”!!! Each week I’ll feature something I find noteworthy, and I don’t want buried in the voluminous depths of my BluesBlast…………. I just wanted to tell you about a great new open mic jam, our old pal G.C. RIVERS, has rekindled over at Jake’s in Hallandale. The jam is on Thursday nights at Jake's on Hallandale Beach Boulevard, from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM. Musicians are encouraged to bring their own rigs in order to achieve their own sound, but a back line will be provided as well. I know there are other jams going on the same night, but this location is more accessible to musicians in Dade county, as well as southern Broward. Why not do as I do and sit in here for a while before going off to another jam. Maybe you’ll have such a good time you’ll want to stick around for more! 

 

Also like to mention GC's new favorite local band:  The Joe Friday Band.  Awesome mix of funk and blues-rock .  The band is commandeered by two good friends of mine:  Mr. Jack "NiteOwl" Carchio and Mr. Russ Pentland.  They host a jam every Wednesday at the Chit-Chat Lounge in Pompano Beach (Hey, if I can make it there from Hialeah, what's your excuse?).  Visit their website at www.thejoefridayband.com for information on how to get there, as well as upcoming shows.

And remember our weekly jam at Jake's every Thursday night beginnign at 9 pm.  Backline is provided, but if you want to bring your own rig, we will give you time to set up.  Jake's is located at 812 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., Hallandale.  For directions, call (954)458-1843.  Jam sessions will run from 9 to 1 am., with everybody guaranteed to play.  All styles are welcome, but of course we prefer heavy classic rock and low down dirty blues.
